Three major tendencies seem to stand out from this map. Firs of all, in Germany, like in most countries, porn stars tend to come from urban areas and notably in big capital cities. Berlin counts for itself 28% of all German pornstars, and Nordrhein-Westphalia, the country's most urbanized region, accounts for 19%. Apart from Berlin, Hamburg is the other big pornhub in Germany, accounting for 11% of the country's pornstars.  Other big cities like Bremen have high ratios and Bayern's high ratio has probably been boosted by Münich. Second characteristic, Former East Germany tends to have higher ratios than former West Germany. Former DDR has an average ratio of 9 (131 pornstars), whereas former RFA has an average ratio of 5.6 (373 pornstars, with Berlin shared equally between the 2). Third major conclusion, there seems to be two main centres of porn in Germany: Berlin and the Hamburg-Flensburg area. Beate Uhse notably is based in Flensburg, whereas big Berliner productions include John Thompson Production and Staria.

This figure shows some major tendencies. The "germanic blonde type" still dominates German porn. Redhead actresses also have a lot of success in Germany. This is a trend also observed in other Western countries, including the USA, but that is particularly evident in Germany. The Turkish minority is totally absent from the porn production.

Most of German porn in gonzo, with a particular preference for group scenes and a slight tendency to more hardcore porn and to integrate elements from bondage and extreme sex. Amy Reid for instance started off with this kind of porn being getting know more widely. German pornstars are notably the third most willing to perform bondage scenes (only behind the Koreans and the Romanians).

Another asset of the German production is vintage porn. The highlight of German porn was indeed in the 1980s, since the opening of the East European market, concurrence has been harsh and nostalgic vintage porn is today something 8,1% of all german porn stars have done, compared to 1,5 in Hungary or 3,5 in the UK. The german porn stars are the next most willing to do this in the world, just after the Dutch. This is of course also a direct consequence of the German domination of European porn in the early eighties: many of the German porn stars simply did these films and they have since become "vintage".
